Circle
Babbitt Guide System Installations
Huey Long, Guide Products
Manager for Pacific/Hoe reported a busy year for guide system installations.
Collins Pine Lumber Co. of Chester, California,
was among the circle babbitt guide systems installed last year. The Pacific/Hoe crew
installed a six-inch, four saw shifting edger last May. Head filer Frank Bows
and Maintenance Manager Bob Porter worked with Pacific/Hoe for a perfect
transition. An Econo Unit EZ-flow lubricating system and a modified PH-100 precision guide
surfacing machine were also installed to ensure proper maintenance of the new thin kerf
edger system.
Eel River Sawmill, Redcrest Division of
Redcrest, California installed babbitt edge guides for their 12-inch, ten saw gang in
October. The installation was completed in only three days, under the watchful eye of Head
filer Steve Schmidt. The EZ-Flow Econo unit lubricating system completed
the installation.
Corely Manufacturing Co., an O.E.M. in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, installed an eight inch top arbor combination double gang. One six
saw gang is stationary, and one six saw gang is movable. The guide system was installed at
Corley's plant and the edger will be installed at Memphis Hardwood Lumber co. in Bruce,
Mississippi. Pacific/hoe also supplied an EZ-Flow Econo Unit lubricating system and
precision guide milling machine.
Valley Machine Co., an O.E.M. in Nackawic, New
Brunswick, Canada, ordered guide arms and spacers furnished with a forty gallon Econo Lube
system for an edger installation in Nova Scotia. They also ordered a patented Super Spline
arbor which features full-face contact between arbor and saw.
Long says last year was one of Pacific/Hoe's
largest years for sales and installations of band guide systems and also very busy for CT
head rig system installations.

automatically, pumping oil from a 55-gallon drum mounted near the cabinet or from any
other oil supply available. A positive flow pump will regulate any desired amount of oil.
