The funeral service for Mr. Jacobsen took place Saturday followed by
a celebration of his life at the Waverly Country Club. Many
employees attended, which would have pleased George. The service was
conducted by Bishop Kenneth Steiner (Bill Steiner's brother). It was
a perfect blend of prayer and reflection on Mr. Jacobsen's life. The
celebration that followed was a wonderful party. There was much
laughter as well as tears. An open microphone was available for
people who wanted to reflect on George and what he meant to them.
The tributes to George went on for well over an hour. They were a
proper remembrance for a great friend and employer. I am sure that
George loved the afternoon. I hope he had time in his busy schedule
to listen to what so many had to say.
A new week begins today. A new chapter in the life of Pacific/Hoe
starts now as well. Mr. Jacobsen had a lot of time to prepare the
company for this day. He knew what the eventual outcome of his
cancer would be. He wants the company to remain in his family and
continue to operate as it did before his death. The philosophy of
the company will not change. Our motto will continue to be
"Commitment to Quality". That is the philosophy that guided the
company through his life. That is the philosophy that will guide us
into the future.
The management of the company will not change. I am honored to have
been appointed President of Pacific/Hoe. A board of directors will
be overseeing the company. Our goal is to continue to develop the
company as George wanted. We will strive to make him proud of the
company. Collectively, it is our task to continue the heritage given
us by Mr. Jacobsen. Collectively, we will honor the legacy of Mr.
Jacobsen and Pacific/Hoe.
